TroyBoi goes from strength to strength with each one of his releases at the moment and ‘The Gift’ offers up a fun sound to perk you up on this Hump Day. It’s the first time in a short while that Troy’s put together a track with his Soundsnobz brother, icekream and I’m glad they’re at it again. They always come up with a fun blend of styles.
It was hard to ignore this one. Ta-ku’s music will always interest me, he’s a great producer. When this started playing on my phone and my head began bopping I had to check out who the MC was. I looked at my phone and nearly dropped it from the shock! Jaden Smith? Really? This guy? No way.
Once I got over that though I restarted ‘Beast Mode’ and was pleasantly surprised. Say what you want about Jaden but for me he killed this song. Set aside eight minutes for yourself and check it out, you won’t be disappointed.
Dallas’ Braeden Bailey is no stranger to a solid remix. Over the last few days he’s been giving us new spins on classics like Aaliyah’s Four Page Letter and Busta Rhymes’ Woo Hah to devastating effect.
Today he took on stwo’s Eden, slowed it right down and made something completely different, which is exactly what a remix should be. Braeden isn’t even 20 years old yet…it’s scary to think about how many good producers are out there at the moment. Enjoy and follow him on soundcloud here.
I don’t know what it is about New Zealand right now but I like what producers there are doing! As I was driving home last night, MJAY’s ‘HIGHER’ came on and instantly put a smile on my face. It’s a perfect song for Friday morning. It’s a funky track that enlists Maxwells vocals from Ascension to make for a great feel good tune. Enjoy.
I didn’t know what to expect when Exma’s ‘SixtyFive‘ lined itself up on my soundcloud but I was pleasantly surprised. It’s a rework of one my favourite songs growing up, ‘I’m Blue’ by Eiffel 65 and it’s instantly flipped by Exma with warm slowed down bass accompanied by chopped up lyrics. I’m looking forward to what else the Auckland native brings out this year. Enjoy.

I don’t think I’ll ever get over how good Sam Gellaitry is. People like him don’t come around often. A prodigy by my standards at least that’s living the dream that he deserves.
Todays track of the day is Reflectionz. It’s a song that shows his diversity and control that he can put into his electronic production. He released his Short Stories EP today on iTunes. Grab it here, it’s not to be slept on.
Over the past few weeks Xon The Creative has been sneakily releasing tracks on his soundcloud. ‘Fire Place’ shows the singers growing maturity and I like the new direction he’s taking with his songs. Enjoy.
